Spring Training Report
I guess there hasn't been any news for a while, eh. Well today's blog is a response to the action I've seen in spring training this year. I'm checking out the Grapefruit league.
Game 1: Boston @ Toronto
Game 1: Boston @ Toronto
- Boston ended up being a split-squad to my complete disappointment. This meant no Matsuzaka mania, no Manny being Manny, no Drew being due (injury that is), no nothing. I was really hoping to scout out Pedroia, since the Sox are handing him the job. Well he did play, and looked fully capable of being as competent as Mark Loretta. Nothing exciting to see here.
- The Jays on the other hand, played everybody but the Big Hurt. Halladay was there and made quick work of the minor-Sox.
- I was happy to see Hansack pitch. He looked good until giving up a two-run homer to Aaron Hill. He did strike out 3 in 1 and 2/3.
- Got the full treatment here: Bonderman VS Oswalt. Bonderman and the Tigers were a step ahead of the Astros for the entire game. I wasn't confused for a second which team was representing it's league championship from the previous year.
- The wind was blowing out all game, so there were several homeruns. The most notable to me was that of Hunter Pence. Arguably the Astros best prospect, he looked good at the plate and even better defensively. I'm suddenly more excited about him than anyone named Brian Anderson.
- Jordan Tata is supposed to be first-in-line to a rotation spot in Detroit. He couldn't find the plate and looked awful.
